Lithology and Thickness

Sandstone. consists mainly of sandstones, light grey to grey, hard to very hard, well bedded, fine to coarse grained, poorly sorted, sub-angular to subrounded, intercalated with conglomerate lenses at the base,with well-bedded volcanic tuff beds and subordinate amounts of dark brown shale. The shale beds are ash-grey to dark brown, hard, laminated, carbonaceous; coal seams are intercalated with the shale beds and in the upper part pillow lavas are associated with slump structures. It is of thickness 1097 m (93 600 ft).

Regional extent

It is developed in Irrawaddy River Delta.
